About
The expression “Strange thing”, though vague in usage, is commonly uttered when we don’t agree with an idea, especially when the idea is almost universally taken for granted. Like there is this TV ad that shows a little girl looking at herself in the mirror and asks, “Dad, am I pretty?” Dad says “Of course you are.” The girl says, “But nobody looks at me…” This is a car ad, so the dad goes and buys that car and surprises the daughter by driving right up to the school porch. He takes her for a drive and everyone is looking at the car, it’s so fantastic, but the little girl thinks they are looking at her. Every time I see this ad, I say, “Strange thing…”, because I don’t agree with the message, maybe inadvertently, being sent out to little girls.
In the drama of life I have been a keen audience, observing things that we are expected to take for granted but I found there some strange things. I will write about them in these blogs and if you don’t agree with me you might just end up saying “this guy is writing strange things”.
So welcome. If I don’t get down to writing my articles with some reasonable frequency, I will post strange things from here and there.
